Ideas and Planning for our Magazine Advert

These were the three main magazine adverts that we got inspiration from. With Katy Perry's, we liked how there wasn't much text and it just focussed on her face, I believe this attracts more of an audience. With Rihanna's, we liked the clear spaced out, bold text, stating the most important information. Again, Rihanna's face is shown very close up. We wanted to use a close up of Cynthia's face looking very emotional to show our target audience a gist of what the album is going to about. So in the end, we decided we wanted a big picture focussing on Cynthia, with some clear bold writing with key information. We thought that this would be most appealing to our target audience. Below, you can see our final magazine advert.

Experimenting with album covers

This is the final idea for our album cover.
The two main Album covers that we were having trouble deciding over were these two, the bigger one is the one that we eventually went with. However after showing our teacher, she said she didn't like the font as it was unprofessional. So we changed it to the image you can see above.

Seeing as we were having trouble deciding over the two, I though that asking our target audience which one they prefer, would make up my mind. So i posted both potential album covers on instagram and these were the replies I got..

Here is the feedback I got when i asked my target audience which album cover they preferred. Everyone preferred the top one, so we will choose that one. This was useful because we were originally leaning slightly more towards the bottom one. It is helpful to know what your target audience prefer before you make your choice.

This was another idea for an album cover that we had

Here is a  picture that we took, but didn't end up using.

This album cover is so similar to the idea that we are going to use for our digipak.  our video is about this girl with an alter ego and our cover was going to be about this girl sitting on top of a piano but the interesting thing is that there are two of her on that piano. this really reflects the alter ego thing because the two people on the piano are different people.

This is our rough idea for our digipak. At first our digipak was going to reflect alter egos but we've now thought about it and we've decided that our artist sitting on the piano will reflect our pitch better which is about a girl who's lost her self confidence.

Album cover ideas

All of these album covers feature the artists face as the main thing. We liked this idea and want to do the same. The two main colours in all of these are black and white, we want our colour scheme to also be black and white because it shows coldness and lack of emotions, which gives our target audience a gist of what kind of songs will be in the album, sad emotional songs.

Analysis of the post-it notes used in our music video and inspirations

The post-its that we used in our video had words such as ugly, fat, freak and etc written on them. Because our narrative is about a girl who has no self confidence and she's trying to overcome it we found that these post it notes would have reflected our idea better. In our video we show the girl taking the post it notes off the mirror. The mirror is where she placed them on because she felt those words written on the post-its reflected who she is and how she feels about herself. We show her then burning the post-its which shows a new beginning for her and shows that she is trying to overcome the insecurities she has about herself.

Post it notes inspirations

In this video the artist uses these post it notes to write discouraging things about herself which is similar to what we did.

We also got inspiration from a series called Being Mary Jane. Although the post it notes in this series have words of encouragement for the actress, its still similar to our idea we just use the post it notes in the opposite way.

Costume Inspirations

We got the beanie idea from Beyonce. The reason we wanted to use the beanie in our video is because it looks edgy and modern and works well with our video and it will be more appealing to our target audience.

We got the body con dress idea from Kim Kardashian. Even though its body hugging and shows off her figure. It also has a sense of class to it which makes her look sophisticated and we wanted our artist to also have that sense of beauty and sexiness but also a classy and sophisticated look.

We got the pyjamas idea from Lea Michelle from Glee. The pyjamas are meant to show a homely atmosphere and to show our protagonist in night wear. Although we wanted to show that our protagonist is self-conscious about her appearance, she still feels comfortable enough to show the audience a soft side of her in her pyjamas.

We also liked the idea of our protagonist wearing jeans blue and brown because we thought it looked cool and modern and also to show a relaxed atmosphere.
