Lyric analysis

This song means to not live a life in silence because there are people out there who care and if you live that way how can they understand your pain or your struggles and also this song just encourages you to remember that your worth and who you are is enough to fight those haters (shadows). This fits perfectly with our narrative.

My favourite verse in the whole song is "Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people. So when did we all get so fearful?" This verse means that we’re all wonderful people but our fear of being judged has made us forgotten that being different doesn’t mean you aren’t a great person.

"Read All About It (Pt. III)"
You've got the words to change a nation
But you're biting your tongue
You've spent a life time stuck in silence
Afraid you'll say something wrong
If no one ever hears it how we gonna learn your song?

So come on, come on
Come on, come on

You've got a heart as loud as lions
So why let your voice be tamed?
Maybe we're a little different
There's no need to be ashamed
You've got the light to fight the shadows
So stop hiding it away

Come on, come on

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

At night we're waking up the neighbours
While we sing away the blues
Making sure that we're remembered, yeah
Cause we all matter too
If the truth has been forbidden
Then we're breaking all the rules

So come on, come on
Come on, come on,

Let's get the TV and the radio
To play our tune again
It's 'bout time we got some airplay of our version of events
There's no need to be afraid
I will sing with you my friend

Come on, come on

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people
So when did we all get so fearful?
Now we're finally finding our voices
So take a chance, come help me sing this
Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people
So when did we all get so fearful?
And now we're finally finding our voices
Just take a chance, come help me sing this

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh

I wanna sing, I wanna shout
I wanna scream 'til the words dry out
So put it in all of the papers,
I'm not afraid
They can read all about it
Read all about it, oh

New Ideas And Changes

Originally, I was in a group of four. We were falling behind with our music video so our teacher suggested splitting into two groups with the hope that we'd work better in smaller groups. Because of this, we had to choose a new music video to remake. Below, I will explain the new idea that me and my partner are planning to do.

We already had a rough idea of what we wanted our music video to be about. We didn't want another typical love story.
A big and ongoing issue in todays society is how young women are pressured to look a certain way. Everywhere you turn you see reminders that you need to try harder to look better. Television, magazines and all sorts of media outlets are constantly praising people for their good looks and people, especially young women, feel the need to follow the trend or keep up.  There are advertisements everywhere for different diet programs and companies that portray people who have lost weight, which signals to young people that they must be a certain weight to be accepted in society. There are airbrushed pictures of models in every magazine and tabloid that portray "beauty". People see these and compare their looks to the models, and then are discouraged and believe they aren't as attractive. Media exploits portray what society believes to be acceptable as far as beauty goes, and this puts pressure on everyday people to look like the unrealistic, airbrushed models the media portrays

So, after analysing the lyrics of this song and talking to my partner about this issue, we both agreed that not only would doing a video about a young girl battling with society and media pressurizing her to look a certain way be fitting to the song. But we also hoped that it would help other young women that are going through a similar situation as it should be a relate-able video.

Here are 3 main lines that i think are vital to the meaning of our song:
"Yeah, we're all wonderful, wonderful people" - Reminding us that we are all wonderful and there is no need to be insecure.

"Maybe we're a little different, there's no need to be ashamed, you've got the light to fight the shadows, so stop hiding it away" - Everyone is beautiful in their own way. Just because you may not look like a model, you have other beautiful things within yourself, don't hide those qualities. Be confident

"I'm not afraid" - Don't be insecure, Don't be afraid to show the world who you really are.
